"While the concept might seem stuffy, viewers shouldn’t worry about its antiquated origins. Under Christopher Glenn Cannon’s adept direction, this post-modern version of Aeschylus’ The Suppliants is full of grand operatic gestures, moving quickly from one stage event to another. Cannon’s style is aggressive and focuses on the humor within the tragedy. His production is in-your-face on the issues addressed in the text: men and women, sex and violence. It stands on the side of love, saying it trumps all and that it’s the highest good."
